The more we understand trauma the more tools, options and opportunities we have for healing. Healing childhood trauma can also help stabilize, decrease and sometimes even resolve symptoms or chronic illness.
Here are two ACE Fact Sheets that summarize the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) research and findings. One fact sheet focuses specifically on chronic illness. The other summarizes all effects of trauma. You can use one or both.
The ACEs science helps to validate how the effects of trauma are very real and not “all in your head.”
The ACE Fact Sheets can also be used as a tool to share the science with your doctor, family or friends, patients and clients, disability lawyers and insurance, and more.
Remember, the good news is that it’s possible to heal the effects of trauma and that helping our bodies resolve trauma responses help with symptoms of chronic illness.
You can learn more about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and chronic illness, calculate your ACE score, and find out how strong the research evidence is in this introductory blog post.
My blog post includes a free downloadable ebook with more information about ACEs and chronic disease.
I wish you all the best on your path of exploration. You’ll see just how far the science has come. You’ll also find support for what you may have suspected about how our past can affect our present health – and that there’s something we can do about it.
